TRAFFIC ALERT: March 2025 Fort Point St. Eversource Foundation Drilling

In coordination with the WALK Bridge Program, Eversource has been working on its Norwalk Bridge Transmission Relocation Project which includes relocating two overhead electric transmission lines that span the top of the railroad bridge (the “WALK Bridge”) and installing them underground. To keep communication open between Eversource and community groups in the surrounding area, we are sharing information about our next phase of construction beginning in March.

Starting in early March, Eversource, through its approved contractors, will begin drilling operations to install a new concrete foundation located on the north side of the Fort Point Street railroad bridge (between South Smith Street and Moore Place). The new foundation is necessary for the installation of a new steel monopole structure that will support the overhead electric lines.

Due to traffic considerations, this work will occur at night from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m., Sunday through Friday. Fort Point Street will be closed during these work hours in the vicinity of the railroad bridge and traffic will be detoured around the work area as shown in the attached detour map. We expect this work to be complete by the end of March.

Construction activities will include:

• Setting up the work zone and traffic patterns;

• During the above work hours, Fort Point Steet will be closed on the north side of the railroad bridge, between Moore Place and South Smith Street. Passenger vehicles and trucks will be detoured as shown on the detour map.

• Traffic detours will utilize the following streets: Van Zant St, East Ave, Cemetery St, Gregory Blvd, Winfield St, Triangle St, Norden Pl, Strawberry Hill Ave, Fitch St, Reynolds St, South Smith St.

• Foundation drilling and pouring concrete.

• Restoring pavement and areas disturbed by the work.
