Actions update since March meeting

bulletAdvocates for Calm Traffic(ACT) website -- CalmTrafffic.org -- on line as of March 20.  Handy contact numbers of officials and city department staff on the site
bulletACT spoke at Capital Budget public hearing for funding for traffic calming.  The full $100,000 was passed by the Council
bulletACT, at invitation of Mayor Knopp, presented information to the Police Commission/Traffic Authority on March 18 re guidelines for speed bumps
bulletACT represented at Friends of Rowayton's Environment (FORE) Forum on April 11
bulletState Rep Bob Duff was contacted by EANA about DOT plans for East Ave.  He contacted the DOT and will assist EANA as needed
bulletEANA contacted Yankee gas regarding damage to tree at East Wall from utility vehicles doing work.  Area subsequently fenced off to avoid further damage

Key items discussed at April meeting

bulletNortheast Utility Forum on April 13.  Rep Duff and Attorney General Blumenthal presented for our interests well
bulletManresa plant constructed in 1954 -- increased cases of asthma since
bulletNew non-conforming use should not be allowed at 6 Smith St.  ZBA public hearing scheduled for May 2
bulletNorwalk Center and Wall St. -- State is not going to fund total amount requested.  Seligson preferred developer status expires May 15
bulletChurches on East Avenue are beautiful structures
bulletChair (Michelle Beyman) of East Norwalk Beautification Committee is leaving Norwalk June 6
bulletNorden -- EANA needs to keep abreast of all plans
bulletPlans for East Norwalk library need to be monitored to avoid excessive expense to the rate payers
bulletPossibility of Planning and Zoning commissions merging into one
bulletCitywide Traffic Summit planned for April 29 and 30
bulletSpeed bump criteria needs 2/3 approval of street
bulletSpeeding vehicles a problem on Beacon, Walter and Eversley Streets
bulletMill Hill street work because of placing of gas lines
bulletTrucks a problem on Rowayton Ave.
bulletTree Inventory workshop scheduled for May 11

bulletKevin Poruban (Chair of Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness) gave information on his committee and provided an update on Council activity
