Take it slow.
We continue to hear from several residents about the speeding on Strawberry Hill Ave. Concerns about traffic and safety of students on the roads are addressed regularly with appropriate officials as we work to come up with better solutions. For many years the ENNA has advocated for the City to comprehensively address this issue at this location because of the school zones that are present. One recommendation that we made was to place reflector strips on the street signs, which was done.
In 2006 funds were approved to do a comprehensive traffic calming study and design for Strawberry Hill Avenue, as well as funding that was received through the 'Safe Routes to School' program. The consultant has not yet been chosen. Public Works is working on drafting the RFQ (Request for Qualifications) and RFP (Request for Proposals).
Keep reporting speeding to the police so that it goes on record.
Speed bumps on the side streets have helped considerably to increase safety for the residents living on those streets and other traffic calming strategies are utilized on the main routes.
