Last meeting:  Regular monthly EANA meeting was held on Sunday, November 24 at 3;30 PM at 20 Raymond Terrace

Actions update since October 27 meeting

bulletPublic hearing (first of two) of the Planning Commission on Village District designation for East Ave from the I-95 to Rte 1 took place on Oct 29.  EANA members spoke in favor of the designation.
bulletEANA organized a City Scan of the Fort Point and Pleasant St area on Oct 30 at 10 AM
bulletEANA coordinated another City Scan of the Sunlit/County/Andrew's Field area on Nov 2
bulletAnnual 'Taste of Thanksgiving' took place at Mill Hill on Nov 3 organized by the Historical Society of Norwalk
bulletEANA represented at the Mayor's Neighborhood Preservation Committee meeting on Nov 6 to discuss City Scan
bulletPublic hearing (second of two) of the Planning Commission on Village District designation for East Ave from the I-95 to Rte 1 took place on Nov 7.  EANA members spoke in favor of the designation.
bulletEANA organized a City Scan of the Elm/Maple/Van Buren/West Av area on Nov 9
bulletZBA Public Hearing scheduled for November 21 to address appeal by the owners of the property at 89B Strawberry Hill Avenue. The appeal is on: a) the language 'Contractor's Yard' that was placed in the permit then removed from the permit; and b) the 'cease and desist' for expansion issued by the zoning inspectors after EANA filed a complaint on behalf of the neighbors
bulletOn November 21 the ZBA heard the testimony of the witnesses for the owner of the property at 89B Strawberry Hill Ave. specific to the phrase 'Contractor's Yard' in the permit but did not allow the public to speak to this item on the agenda, voting in favor of the owner without hearing from the neighbors that were there ready to give testimony. Public Hearing by the ZBA about the 'Cease and Desist' for expanded use at the Contractor's Yard at 89B Strawberry Hill Avenue was rescheduled to Thursday, December 5 at 7:30 PM in the 3rd Floor Council Chambers at City Hall.

Key items discussed November 24 meeting

bulletLengthy discussion from all present regarding the status of the hearings concerning 89B Strawberry Hill Ave.  Plans discussed for presenting the neighbors' concerns regarding expansion.
bulletAndrews Field discussed.  EANA working with environmental groups to get help in assessing this valuable wetland for cleanup and possible dredging
bulletSpeed bump signs have gone in on 8 of the 9 streets that are budgeted. Bumps are due to be installed in the next couple of weeks.
bulletStatus of various zoning violations discussed. Aline Rocheford (Asst. Zoning Inspector) helpful, as per accounts of EANA members.
bulletHoliday event cancelled for this year but committee interested in working on an event next year and starting the planning process earlier
bulletNorwalk Tree Alliance received a Pride In Norwalk (PIN) award this past Wednesday
bulletMore zoning changes proposed by the owners of Norden Place (for educational use).  EANA following: attending Zoning meetings; in contact with Kim Morque of Norden; and working with the president of Woodfield Commons Association on Norden to protect the interests of the neighborhood
bulletMatt Miklave gave an update on the work of the Council and of his work as Chair of the Planning Committee. In particular, he spoke of the need for more affordable housing
